Happy Holidays, all! I am delighted to find you here. Yep--lyrics request. In fifth grade (1958) , in the classroom of Mrs. Goulding in the Mullen-Hall school in Falmouth, MA, we sang a song from our songster with these lyrics:

"Brown fields are empty where green corn was growing,
Asters have faded away.
Leaden and icy the river is flowing,
Picture November in tones of gray."

It has a haunting minor mode melody . I'd love to be able to sing the whole thing again. I associate learning this song with learning an English version of HaTikvah ("Look toward the East with promise ever bright, Golden horizon heralding the day..." , a stirring choral "March Slav" and a round called "Sweet the Evening Air of May." Mrs. Goulding was terrific:-)
Any clues? Thanks!
