I'll never forget the day I watched the filming in Holmfirth, whilst on a lunch break at a day of dance. We were standing on the bridge (feeding chips to, and flirting with, the lovely sound engineer) and the scene was taking place outside Nora's cottage. At the end, a minibus arrived to take the cast away to wherever, and they all made their way out of the cold, grey weather onto the bus. Kathy Staff, obviously quite cold herself, was last, and still she took time out to talk to the people who had gathered to see her, and sign autographs, while the rest stayed snug and warm on the bus.

What a genuinely sweet lady! I always admired her, and I'll be sad not to see any more of her.
