Well, hell may not have frozen over, but Portland certainly has.   Our fair city (aka "Puddletown") is now hobbled by about 3 in. of snow with temperatures in the '20s. (I know that sounds balmy to those of you from Minnesota and the like.)

We get our main arteries cleared pretty quickly when there's snow or ice, but the side streets are another matter.   Add to that the fact that most Portlanders aren't used to snow the way people in the NE, midwest, and northern US are, so you're kind of taking your life -- or at least your car's fenders -- in your hand when you venture out upon the ice or packed snow.

Anyway the folks on Mt. Hood are delighted, because the belated ski season can now start for Oregon this year!
