The most lovely hankies arrived in the mail yesterday! I just now sat down to open a stack of mail and there they are--all of those great old fashioned embroidered pieces of very fine cotton and linen. Beautiful--thank you, Maryanne!

Meanwhile, catastrophe averted--I looked out this afternoon and saw yellow flags and paint across the front of my yard, but I'm not planning on digging anything up. I've tried the folks who own the flags--no call back from them yet, and I tried neighbors on each side. Nope. So, on a long shot, I called the house at 5912 (I'm 5812) and yup--they're putting in a new sewer. She raced off to call her plumber after we got off the phone.
