We have a Kingsman wood stove. Pretty much burns anything. Messy, from the ash, wood chips, etc, but it keeps us warm and the gas bill down. We move the heat with electric floor fans. If the electric is off, we can camp out in the back room, and cook on it too.

Yea, you have to buy (or go cut, split, stack, etc) wood...but still cheaper than gas.
