Nope - no wood, Pellets only. I am not scientific and do not understand technicalities but I believe it is to do with the temperature at which wood burns (high) and the temp at which pellets burn (much lower).....the pellet stove is nestled into a corner of the room, much closer to the wall than I believe would be safe for a woodstove..
