Yes, there was a similar sort of influx of Poles into Britain around 1939-1940 - you know, caused by the German invasion of Poland. Perhaps on a slightly smaller scale, but an influx all the same. Because of the political state of post-war Poland, with Uncle Joe in charge, many of them stayed and contributed even more to Britain after fighting with us.

My father-in-law was one of them, and a fine man he was. And so were his friends in the local Polish community in Lancashire. Good luck to today's Polish people - wherever they may go!
