I'd heard that Sarasponda (the spelling I've always used) was a song to go with a spinning wheel - I've used it for years in voice workshops, using the boomda- boomda part to set the speed, swapping sides and seeing just how fast we can go.
FWIW, I learnt it in the Girl Guides, so you might find the tune in a Guide songbook, if nowhere else.
