A good fruitcake contains both candied citron (a kind of melon) and the grated rind of oranges and lemons, as well as their juices. Some people also add candied orange rind. Those who turn up their noses at these ingredients are merely leaving all the more for those of us who have tastebuds of discrimination and discernment.
