Thread Name: Lyr Req: Seven Nites of Drinking
Subject: Seven Nites of Drinking
Dear Sir/Mam, Two weeks ago on vacation, we met five sisters who were raised in and still live in the Blue Ridge Mountains along the parkway drive in Virginia and North Carolina. One night at a lodge they were singing many old folk songs they learned and sang during their childhood days on the farm where 8 kids were raised. They range in ages of late 50s up. They were singing a song titles Seven Nites of Drinking, but did not know all the verses which end the song. It begins: "Last night when I came homek so drunk I couldn't see, I saw another horse in the barn where my horse should be..." and goes on from there. None of them have a computer, so I said I would use the net to try to find someone who migh have the words. Can you be of any help? If you need more on the song, the one I was going to send them to is Ruby Presnell, 197 Monteagle Drive, Boone, N.C. 28607, 428-265-2208. Any help you can be would be appreciated because I would like to know how the song ends. They knew the verses up to the point that there was someone in the bedroom where the drunken man should be. Getting only this far is like putting a man out on a limb and cutting it off. Thanks for whatever you can do, Lyle R. Rolfe, 2580 'wyckwood Court, Aurora, Il., 60506, Lrerartr@aol.com
