Subject: RE: Tech: mp3 player .. iPod or 'other brand'
I've been borrowing Manitas's Creative Zen, and I must say, other than not being able to run it off the mains power, I have had many hours of joyful listening from it.

I bought a cheap MP3 player for the car so that if anything does happen to it, I've not lost much, and it runs off one of those cassette converter thingies (no CD in our car and I dislike the wireless converter thingie that Manitas bought and used once, many months ago...).

My Inovix Ipocket ipod-lookee-likee has started doing something weird so I suspect it's going to be "retired" soon. When I plug it into the computer it tells me there are no files and it's empty, but when I turn it on to play, it has a whole heap of music files. These files then proceed to play on repeat, one file at a time and I can't work out how to stop them repeating or even progressing to the next file. Numerous deletes and expletives have resulted in another bit of equipment being kicked to the kerb and the cheap alternative brought up to the front. Oh, and the Inovix Ipocket ipod-lookee-likee uses a non standard jack so I can't even snaffle the very good quality headphones for other purposes. The adaptor for Inovix to standard jack has a wire loose and a replacement would cost more than the new MP3 for the car did.

Don't get an Inovix.
