Did you know that 'Ramsey' means 'Island of the Wild Garlic' (after 'Ramsons' = Allium ursinum)? Similarly 'Ramsbottom' (in Lancashire) means 'Valley of the Wild Garlic'.

Oh yes, I can confirm that Whittlesey/sea is spelled both ways. And 'Peterborough' means 'a place ruined by progress'.
