Really who the hell knew in 1979 what the Thatcher years had in store for us. I felt enormous foreboding. The Callaghan government were stupid and the tories seemed if anything to have even less purchase on reality.

It was all done so dishonestly. Both sides not stating their true objectives openly. You had to merely guess what the motives of all parties were.
