The pic of me was taken by the Morning Star photographer who was also there, as I wasn't doing both myself that day. It went in Socialist Worker too. I imagine there were quite a few images of that kind as I was by no means the only person towards whom the mounted police were swiping their batons.

My less scary and far more edifying memories of the strike were the benefit concerts. There were very, very few artists who wouldn't do the gigs for expenses only. One agent, though, complained "why is it always X, Y and Z?" When the artists heard about this, they switched agencies, not wishing to be associated with someone not 100% behind the miners.
