Chris Birch was Peter Bellamy's brother-in-law, a very fine violin player who pwas involved in many of PB's recordings and also on occasion with the Silly Sisters.

I know no more than that he now lives in Luxembourg but I'd imagine Tony Hall, the melodeon player, might have a better idea.
