Tom Baker's garb in Doctor Who was actually what he wore in real life - he just continued wearing it for the TV series. The band I played in in London in the late 60s/early 70s had a twice-a-week residency at the Redan (corner of Queensway and Westbourne Grove) and TB was one of several bods who came along to watch and listen from time to time. A genial cove, as I recall, who regularly stood us pints and looked just like...Doctor Who.
