I don't know where we stand as far as weather-breaking records go, but in Juneau, Alaska, we've had tons of snow these last two weeks and we go from one Weather Advisory or Warning to another with scarcely a break between. Tonight - again - it is still snowing and we're being warned that we can expect another 12 to 24 inches before tomorrow evening.

It's very pretty, the air is wonderful and the mountains are marvelous to see. And since the high winds they have threatened us with have not materialized, it's also not that cold; those are the good aspects of it.

We're registering just slightly above zero degrees F, ranging from minus 2 or 4 to up to 13 degrees above zero. When the wind does blow it is brutal, of course.

In the back of my mind is the nagging thought that if it warms up and starts raining into these billows and berms of snow, it's gonna be a MESS.
