Oh, dear, it will be hard to find the tree songs in this forest! Maybe I should "leave" this thread now.

But, I don't believe, anyone has mentioned Malvina Reynold's gentle protest song "The Lambert Children" where the village children climbed the trees threatened by the developers.

There are hundreds of traditional lumber harvesting songs, but no one seems interested in them.

There's "The Tree of Life" which is more of a spiritual song, which I don't think anyone has mentioned.

Then there's "Wind in a Million Leaves" by Australia's John Warner (from THE SEA AND THE SOIL, © 1997, 2000), for those who wish to ponder:

"Must we make a desert with our own cruel hands
And die of a waste with a heart that grieves,
Or gaze on the stars through the branching limbs,
To the song of the wind in a million leaves."
