Thread Name: Carol singing on youtube etc
Subject: Carol singing on youtube etc
Recent threads before Christmas showed that a lot of people were going to the pub carol singing in Yorkshire and Cornwall and other places, and doubtless all sorts of Mudcatters' carol-singing got recorded one way or the other. Has anyone got anything they can share? I am particularly interested in the range of carol singing that is going on in pubs and other non-church environments, but anything would be good.
To start the ball rolling, here are the Penkhull Mystery Singers having a final practise in the village hall and then singing a version of the Cranbrook setting of While Shepherds Watched in the first pub of the evening. This was the Terrace, in Penkhull, Sytoke-on-Trent evening. The evening progreessed to Dr Charles' house(wine etc), then to the Marquis of Granby, then to the Greyhound, where finished off and sang a lot. Otherwise abouyt three songs in each visit.
I am adding a bit of context, as it is interesting to know where, and to who people sing.
Incidentally the Youtube does say it is the Secret Singers: that is a mistake by the wielder of the video camera who must have misremembered. We are really the Mystery Singers, nothing very mysteriou, justly mostly people who take part in the Penkhull Mystery Play every summer.
Right, the floor is now yours...I'd particularly like to hear some Cornish carolling.
