A matter of taste, of course. But I'm a huge fan of puns, and for me there's no such thing as a bad pun--the groaners are just as good as the others---and no matter how many times I hear them.   Some of my favorite cuts on Art Thieme's recent CD are the short stories he tells--totally deadpan--and ending in a pun--like the one about his dog and the one about the birds in the locks of the canal.

I think the deadpan approach plays a role.
