Basically, I've just discovered the guy, years late, and I think respect should be paid. MS - thanks for that. On the booze thing, I think having a problem isn't about drinking six pints of an evening (or eight or ten) - it's more about not being able to have one drink without having six, and not feeling comfortable till you've had that first one. It doesn't sound as if TC was in anything like that state when you knew him.
