Thread Name: Divorce Music (songs)
Subject: Lyr Add: CALLING ALL ANGELS (Jean Siberry)
Callie,

Here's my best stab at it, from listening to the CD. (For those who haven't been following along above, Jean Siberry and k.d.lang sing it on "Love You 'til the End of the World," soundtrack to the Wem Winders film of the same name...)

It's not folk, so I don't know if I should post it ... and I don't have anything here with the name of the composer on it, but if you can supply that (I have no idea where my CD case went ...) that would be great and we could give credit where it's due for what is arguably one of the loveliest songs you'll hear.
I want this one done at my funeral -- which of course will be another 50 or 60 years down the road. But I like to be prepared ...

Calling All Angels

A man is placed upon the stairs
A baby cries and high above
You can hear the church bells start to ring.
And the heaviness, the heaviness of it settles in. (Somewhere you can hear a voice sing...)

Then it's one foot, then the other
as you step out on the road, ah,
step out on the road.
And it's how long and how far and how many times
Oh, before it's too late?

Calling all angels, calling all angels,
Walk me through this world, don't leave me alone
Calling all angels, calling all angels,
We're trying, we're hoping,
but we're not sure how this goes.

Ah, every day you gaze upon
the sunset with such dark intensity.
Why, it's almost as if, if you could only crack the code
you'd finally understand
what this all means

Ah, but if you could, do you think you would
trade it all, all the pain and suffering?
Ah, but then you would have missed
the beauty of the light upon this earth
and the sweetness of the evening.

Calling all angels, calling all angels
Walk me through this world, don't leave me alone
Calling all angels, calling all angels
We're trying, we're hoping,
but we're not sure how this goes.

Repeat: Calling all angels, calling all angels
Walk me through this world, don't leave me alone
Calling all angels, calling all angels
We're trying, we're hoping,
We're hurting, we're loving, we're crying, we're calling
'cause we're not sure how this goes...
