What you hear on Space Oddity is a stylophone. But I do like that Andes Flute Melodica - in fact, when my daughter was little she had something similar from the Early Learning Centre, circa 1985, in essence a plastic pan-pipe with a keyboard giving a diatonic scale - a miniature pipe organ! Beautiful, but long gone... Must look into it.
