I've never heard them called "pony walls." Ours doesn't have the spindles, which I am glad of; I don't esp. like them and I like the openness of the space, plus I have a lot of light which comes in there from the DR southerly window.

Thanks for the ruler suggestion. It is just about 36" by probably 12-14." I'll have to measure it. I have no idea what it is worth nor who made it. It was a leftover from a Girl Scout tag sale and the owner did not want it back, so she gave it to me, along with some other stuff. I like the colour of the house behind it in that picture.:-)
