Thread Name: Lucy Broadwood show, Lewes (29 Jan 2009)
Subject: Lucy Broadwood show, Lewes 29/01/2009
Apologies to Vic Smith, who I think published details of this event under his continuing Royal Oak thread, but I thought it might be worth putting this thread out as a separate item.

The 150th anniversary of the birth of Lucy Broadwood, folksong collector, researcher, composer pianist, singer, poet, artist (you name it, she seems to have done it) occurred last August. In order to celebrate the event Ralph Jordan and I (Irene Shettle) have put together a show about her life and work in words and music called "Listen and You Shall Hear" - words taken from Lucy's writings and that of contemporaries and associates, and music from her own collecting work. We will be presenting the show at the Royal Oak in Lewes this Thursday, 29th January 2009. If you fancy learning a bit about a rather interesting woman, and hearing a few of the tunes and songs she collected, then it would be good to see you there.

Further details re the evening can be obtained from the Royal Oak's website and about us from our Myspace page
