Adelaide had its hottest day in 70 years, with temperatures reaching up to 45.5 degrees Celsius this afternoon.

re the egg, many years ago a friend made some wholemeal bread (flat bread likie a chapati) by rolling the pastry flat and thin and placing it on the (washed) footpath in her back yard. It toasted in the heat and we had it with butter - it was delicious.
