I was reading an interview with John Mortimer, the writer and lawyer, who died the other day. He was the defence counsel for Penguin Books in the Lady Chatterley case.

He said that, though of course he had to go on in court about what great literature it was, in fact he didn't think much of the book then or now. Not that it should have been banned, just that he didn't think it was too worth reading.
