Your post awoke all that I felt this last summer when we said goodbye to our Cleo so I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes as well. It's the price we pay for all the love we've been given, isn't it - and it's a tough one.
But I wouldn't be without a furry friend in my life. And as I write this I can hear young Persia thudding her way down the stairs and skidding wildly on the wood laminate floor, trying to provoke one of us into playing with her.
We'll raise a glass to Clementine, and give Persia an extra cuddle tonight to pass on through the cat psychic network.
