Occasionally, here in the UK, we get a politician who has character. Whether they are very good, very bad or a downright liability, they are that rare thing, interesting. Boris Johnson, the mayor of London is a good example.

Sarah Palin may have caused some concern, and as the American leadership has more affect on the rest of the world than any other country leaders, we kept a close eye too.

But just so long as she had no opportunity to actually go to Washington, the stories about her and even watching her in action was light relief and made the election something to watch.

Perhaps a novelty item, and to be frank, she was not a good advert for The USA.

But I hope she is around for the next one. Comics need people like her!
