I think the key to it all is contained in the phrase "makes me feel protected and safe". When a woman feels protected and safe, she can relax totally and let go. Nothing makes people feel as protected and safe in this society as having a lot of money. If they don't have what they see as "enough" money, however, they never really feel safe, and nothing interferes with good sex like a constant level of suppressed anxiety about your overall living situation.
