I may email all the companies Phelps does endorsements for and tell them if they drop him I'll drop them. (Of course, I'm not sure how much business I give them anyway.)

Phelps's earlier DUI naturally tarnished his image, but people have got to get over the demonization of marijuana.   If Phelps had been video'd throwing back a 6 pack or doing tequila shooters when he wasn't "on duty," no one would've batted an eye, much less talked of his image being sullied. Now the media are comparing Phelps's doing a bong hit with Kobe Bryant's (alleged) sexual abuse of a young woman. Horribly unreasonablle comparison.

I hope this "scandal" provokes a long-overdue, reasonable dialogue about the relative evils of casual pot smoking vs. the "war on drugs" and its extension to marijuana.

Phelps's suitability as a role model for kids is, IMO, no less than if he'd been seen at a kegger.
