These things are often fluid. Certainly I have heard Mike tell the "This America" story at least once before I recorded him as above.

I wonder if the "This America" story came from Hardy? All sorts of press stories get recycled when the press are short of material!!

I suspect we will never know. Wherever the original story Mike wrote a fine song that's for certain and I reckon that's what matters.
