Almost everyone knows that "Idlewild" was the original name of John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. But did you know that the airport's name was changed twice between those two names? It was renamed "Major General Alexander E. Anderson Airport" soon after its construction and renamed again to "New York International Airport" in 1948. The public gleefully ignored both of those names and continued calling the place "Idlewild" until it was changed to JFK in 1963.
