Kendall, yes, hawks will take blue jays. I saw it happen once. It was not pleasant. The jay screamed and fought for about 5 minutes, before the hawk gutted it, right outside my window. Just be content with the knowledge that hawks kill jays, and hope it doesn't happen while you're around.
