But, hey, if Michael Phelps is no longer a sports idol or role model because he used a bong, does that mean we can no longer look up to President Obama because he openly (and not too apologetically, IIRC) owns to have smoked pot in his youth and even, unlike Bill Clinton, having INHALED?   (Obama on inhaling: "That was the point."   

I think the US government and the media need to grow up. (And reading what 3refs said would be a start.)
