Subject: RE: Tech: Need Help to Find Temp Files
JiK, I got it ion IE. Still need to find it in Firefox though.
Since each user has a separate Temporary Internet Files folder built into Windows, with access to it controlled by Windows it would seem logical that any browser should use that same folder.
In other words, I'd expect that the folder found using the View Files button in IE would be the same one that any other browsers would use. Many of the temp files are ported to other viewers and/or applications that aren't unique to what browser you use, and there seems no reason for the browser to need tell a media player to go elsewhere to get a tune-file to play or a video to run, when there's already a "standard place" that the players all know how to find.
Since I don't have another browser on my machines to check it out, I can't be sure that the others don't have their own places to put them; but have you tried putting a shortcut to the Temporary Internet Files folder that IE uses on your desktop, and then looking to see if new temp files show up there when you look at something in another browser?
Since the TempIntFiles folder will be full of cookies, I'd suggest looking at something simple like a static image and then see if there's a new .jpg or .gif in the folder.
