Honestly, how many teachers would like their pupils to be raised by parents who smoke dope, drink too much, go to the pub at lunchtime or after school and then drive home? Or do we say that children "belong" to the parents in the very same way things do? I have no idea about you but during my teaching life I came across kids whose luck would have been to be born in a different family!
