I learned this variation in 7th grade, nearly 50 years ago: I saw her snatch her satchel from the table / I held her but a moment in my arms / We went down to the station / To see her brother Jack off on the train. While I won't say one version is superior to the other, you've got to love that alliteration in the first line.
