I recall a discussion about slavery while at uni 30 years ago. I remarked that Canada had none. The next day, I was given a photocopy of an advert in the Fredericton, New Brunswick newspaper (cannot recall the date - early 1800s) for the sale of a "negroe buck". I was taken aback.

I know little of the history. Just grateful somebody got it straightened out.
