Dear Jane -- my thoughts are with you and the family at this terrible time. I have nothing but wonderful memories of Matt -- he was always so welcoming when we met (which was,alas, too infrequently in recent years).
It goes without saying that he gave great pleasure with his songs and singing, but also,as others have said, with the warmth of his personality and the way he could light any group without dominating it.
Apart from many sessions at Whittlebury in particular I recall a memorable night singing with him aboard the Cutty Sark (late 70's I think). Thank-you Matt and farewell.
