Thread Name: BS: Salma Hayek breastfeeding flack
Subject: RE: BS: Salma Hayek breastfeeding flack
I"m bored and trying to stay awake until I get in the car to go pick up Sum Yung Sun from a Valentine party a good 20 miles from here, so consider this post in the nature of a "hit and run."

Seems like there are a couple of molehills being turned into mountains.

This is one of the silliest threads I have read through on the 'Cat recently. Like Ron noted, it doesn't sound to me like the lady is getting flack. My Ex sponsors a a "Bug Day" twice a year where numerous and assorted insects are caught, roasted, sauted, stewed or friccasseed then consumed. It is attended with relish by, among others, my son. I never participated because I'm too squeamish, but that doesn't mean I think it is wrong or unsanitary or...something.

If any number of other people were posting what PDQ is posting to this particular thread, I suspect many would respond with humor instead of rancor. PDQ does not need, warrant, or probably want me defending him. I'm just making an observation. Seems to me like he is having fun yanking chains....and it is kinda funny to "watch."

There are, by the way, reasons to exercise some caution regarding cross feeding in this day and age that would warrant organizations that promote breast feeding and milk donation to refrain from endorsing direct cross feeding, issues of potential liability being a major one. Medications and a number of drugs can be passed through breast milk. I'm guessing a number of pathogens can also. The immunity passed to an infant through breast milk likely presupposes some genetic resistance within a population to common regional pathogens. (I don't know this, I'm simply speculating.) Consider that before you think disparaging thoughts about these organizations. They have to be cautious.
