Well, now. . . .
In general, it would be very tempting to join in the feeding frenzy, considering the general stench and many forms of pestilence that emanate from the field of politics. However, I can't condemn all politicians. I know two people personally who, realizing that it's politicians who steer the country, got so disgusted with the direction the country is being steered in, that they figured they'd better see if they could do something about it. So they held their noses, paid the filing fees, and ran for office. One of them ran for city council, but didn't make it. The other ran for state legislature and he did get elected. So far, he's managed to kick a bit of ass.
I know these two well enough to know that they aren't in it to feather their own nests. They're there because they feel that somebody has to do something besides bitch and complain, otherwise it will be "same old same old."
These two guys would be considered to be politicians, but I have nothing but admiration for them.
I also know the Congressional Representative from my district. I have a great deal of admiration for him also. He's stuck his neck out again and again, and has taken his lumps for it. But he keeps at it. He must be doing something right. People like him and keep re-electing him. He go 85% of the vote last time around.
