Other than scattered attempts by folks like Estelle Klein to include Native music in Festivals (during the 60s), Few listened or cared until a couple of Native Women rock singers hit the charts a couple of years ago. The festivals are happy to hire Native singers as long as they're female, cute, petite, and sound exactly like American country-folk singer-songwriters.
