One of my family's Mottoes is "First loot, THEN burn" and it dates back to when we'd go a-viking each summer. Another is "Sine Virtus, Sine Laus" or, roughly, "No guts, no glory" which commemorates my brother's attempt at crossing a stream on a thin, rotten, slippery log about twenty-five feet over the roiling, churning water.
