I had bursitis in my knee once from trying to learn Irish step dancing. It hurt like hell and I could hardly move. I did learn the dance, though! What happens with bursitis is something like the fluid sacs in the joints get inflamed and swollen from overuse or unfamiliar use ---- so it would seem like strange wrist manipulations could do it.
