There are a few songs Merle Travis's brother John taught me when I was a kid. He said Merle played them live but never recorded them but always said he was going to. John had written them as he had several of Merle's songs he did record. They were instrumentals and were really good. I have forgot the songs and it makes me sick. If I ever do remember them I am going to record them. Sometimes you are just handed things that as a kid you take for granted. Those songs were are a good example of that. Mr.John passed on several years ago now and to my knowledge I am the only one he taught 2 of them to. He did teach my cousin one of them and he remembers it well parts of it at least. I was the only young one the to spend time at his house with him and visit him on a regular basis. I retained the stories and all but the songs have slipped from my mind. Not recording them is something I regret so I agree with Kendall 100%.
