Thank you Murray, but for Nick's benefit let me expand a little on what the ballads actually consist of (there's plenty about them on Mudcat, of course). They include everything from the magical epics like 'Tam Lin', or the 'Two Sisters', to quite familiar songs such as 'Scarborough Fair' and 'High Barbary', along with a few comedy numbers like 'Seven Drunken Nights' and 'Get Up and Bar the Door'. Somewhere or other I've described them as the crown jewels of English-language traditional folksong, and, yes, I do sing a fair number of them.
