Pete is not a Geordie; he,s a Teesider. Used to hear that song sung by Skerne at the Red Lion in Trimdon many moons ago. "You don,t know what you,ve got till it,s gone." I wish I,d known that then, and I particularly wish there was a video of those wonderful times. Shame video wasn,t even in existence then. The landlady had a wonderful collection of water jugs and other pub crockery hanging from the rafters and when the singing was good, (99 times out of a 100) the crockery would ring. Magic nights with wonderful guests too numerous to list but Isaac Guillory was just one particular favourite. The resident band played some good old chorus songs which got me into singing with confidence, and eventually led me to playing guitar and writing my own songs. One of the band members, Edwin, had a daughter called Lyn, and I,ve never yet heard a better version of her "Tie a yellow handkerchief". I,ve met Pete; pleasant man, or as they say in France; champion!
