I can accept Larnson for Launceston, but I'm not too sure about Larnston. It's usually the 't' sound that's left out, even when people pronounce it Launson. I believe it's more Lanson, as in 'We'll give you the chance at St. Stephen's, by Lanson', in 'The Bellringing' song.
