If you go to Pendle, which has also eaten into Yorkshire, and drive to Barnoldswick, you will pass a sign reading "You are now entering the historic county of the West Riding Of Yorkshire" even though you are still (officially) still in Lancashire. Bloody Good on 'em I say. That's the way to do it.
